Exciting News!

Enjoy Speech and Drama from the comfort of your own home! 🙂

In light of the current, very uncertain situation and after much thought and careful deliberation, I have decided to move next terms classes to Zoom. We will be having a ‘Zoom Pod’ term! I would love for us all to get back to Plumley, but realise it would be risky with children coming from different schools and geographical areas to the village hall. It would be impractical to stagger drop off and pick up times and keep on top of making the toilet facilities safe after every visit and teach at the same time. I also believe that social distancing will be difficult, as Drama is such a sociable activity and once children are focused on games and Drama tasks, social distancing will, no doubt, be the last thing on their minds.

For families who have not already joined in with our Zoom sessions, I would like you to know that they are very secure with a password protected meeting and easy to join-you simply click on the link I send via email. You can use any device with a camera and internet connection. In line with safeguarding all our sessions will be recorded.

I think it is very exciting for us to be able to continue with our learning and performing remotely and hope that you will support me in embracing this new platform for learning.

This online group has been a lifeline for my son, and our family. At 16 but with a learning disability, it has enabled him to become part of a community of peers, develop his skills and have lots of fun and laughter. Sam is amazing, she provides a safe and nurturing space where everybody feels included and empowered to be creative, take risks and be themselves. To do this on zoom with young people she’s never met in person is no mean feat and we just can’t thank her enough.

Thankyou so much. Cordelia LOVES her classes and VERY slowly is becoming more confident in finding her voice.

I love Sam's drama classes, I have met different people and played lots of games. Sam helped me with my LAMDA exam and I really enjoy it.

Sessions are very child-led with an emphasis on having fun and making connections, which encourages kids to engage and enjoy interacting with each other. Exciting confidence building game based exercises motivate kids to speak within the group. The very low pressured environment helped my five year old grow in confidence. She was never pushed to participate - If she didn't feel comfortable to join in she was able to observe until she felt happy to rejoin the group. This is still a group that she looks forward to attending.

Today my son joined Sam via Zoom for Drama.
His worries and anxieties were lifted immediately when the class started. Sam is so lovely, friendly and fun and the other children were so chatty and warm and welcoming. He signed up for the next lessons within minutes. I highly recommend the class with Sam she is brilliant!
